#Damaged Caused

An unknown individual dumped cooking oil into a large steel bin at the local shopping centre, causing 60 litres of cooking to leak out the bottom and onto the concrete surface in the bin collection area. Approximately 10m2 were affected and caused a strong odour from the area. Nearby cars were driving through and causing oil to cross contaminate further bitumen.

NLR was called to clean up the concrete surface and make clean the bin area.

#Clean up

The bins were moved out of the way, and the kitty litter initially put down to absorb some of the oil was collected and disposed of off-site. the technicians first poured a specialised degreasing cleaning solution to help break down the oil when scrubbed. After the concrete was scrubbed of oil, using the truck-mounted pressure cleaning extraction machine, the technicians applied further cleaning solutions with a pressure spray. Once done, the oil was pressure hosed towards an extraction wand that extracted the resulting liquid. This was repeated few times until the area was satisfactorily cleaned.

#Result

The bin collection area was completely cleaned of the oil and looked as if there was never a spill, to begin with. The client was happy, and the bins were moved back into place. If you have any oil spill enquiries, please don't hesitate to contact us. You can do so by clicking the button below.
